To start, Earth has a distance from the sun of 93,000,000 miles.
That gives a orbital diameter of 186,000,000 miles.
Times PI gives a orbit length of 587,760,000 miles.
Divided by 365.25 means Earth travels 1,609,199 miles in a day.
Divided by 24 means Earth travels 67,050 mph.
Divided by 60 means Earth travels 1,117 mpm.
Divided by 60 means Earth travels 18.6 mps.
The sun's motion around the center of the Galaxy is 136.5 mps.
The motion of the Galaxy through space is 250 mps.
Adding up the speeds you find that the earth is moving through the universe at a
speed of 559 miles each second.
So a little logic will show that if you move 1 second into the future you will
appear 559 miles underground causing another minor earthquake.
Moving 1 second into the past and you appear 559 miles in space with the earth
rushing at you at 67,050 miles in a hour. When you hit the air, one second later,
friction will turn you into a puff of steam. If you move far enough in time you will not
be hit by the earth but you will die of explosive decompression and instant freeze drying.
I have some serious reservations about the individuals who call radio shows
claiming to be time travelers.
Upon further consideration I have reached the conclusion that time travel is
nature's method of population control of advanced civilizations.
When a species reaches a level of technology that allows the development of time
travel and the population begins to crowd the planet, time travel will be invented. With
the population density high enough it will spawn a large group of individuals that will
yearn for the past (A GOLDEN AGE) or the future (UTOPIA).
This group will rush headlong in the time machines and vanish forever from the
present to appear in the past or future, reappearing in space with explosive
decompression and instant freeze drying, thereby reducing the population pressure.
The remains will float around in space until captured by a gravity field of some
planet or sun....
It might be interesting to look carefully at dark matter in space as this may well
be the unnumbered bodies of a vast number of species who have had their populations
reduced for an unimagined period of time.
So as you sit and stare up at the night sky and watch the streaks moving across
it, you are not watching chunks of stone and ice fall, what your are seeing are the freeze
dried bodies of time travelers burning up as the earth scoops them up as it trundles
along in orbit..
