Detailed Summary:

On how to make your
LOCK screen DIFFERENT then your WALLPAPER screen
on a JailBroken iPod or iPhone.

PLEASE read my Executive summary FIRST.

And if you do NOT know how to ssh to your iPod,
you should NOT be doing any of this...

PRE-FLIGHT:
  1. Make a folder called "Pictures" with a few small .jpg images which are 320 by 480 pixels.

IN-FLIGHT:
  1. Be aware of what partition "Themes" are stored !!!
    - It is a soft link from the ls -asl /Library/ folder to the ls -asl /var/stash/Themes.OhZpm9/ folder.
    - And remember, ln does not like to span partitions !

    root [ ~ ]#cat /etc/fstab
    /dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
    /dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw 0 2

  2. If you have not installed and configured WinterBoard, do so NOW.

POST-FLIGHT:

To store all our nifty pictures,
let's make a *NEW* directory called Pictures, in the /var/mobile/Library/ folder.
cd /var/mobile/Library

mkdir Pictures
chown -R mobile:mobile Pictures

To change your "User Lock Background" image do:
cd "/Library/Themes/User Lock Background.theme"
rm LockBackground.jpg
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/Pictures/my-new-wallpaper-LOCK-image.jpg LockBackground.jpg

To change your "User Wallpaper" image do:
cd "/Library/Themes/User Wallpaper.theme"
rm Wallpaper.jpg
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/Pictures/my-new-wallpaper-DESKTOP-image.jpg Wallpaper.jpg

Now HUP or respring SpringBoard:
killall SpringBoard
or
respring
