DEVICE INFO:

1. The major difference between the first generation (1G) and the second generation (2G) Touch is that the 2G supports a microphone via the FOUR PIN headphone jack!

2. The 2G iPod touch uses v4.0 of the ARM1176 running @ 532 MHz and a bus speed of 133 MHz,
   all the iPhones and the 1G Touch run v1.0 of the ARM @ 412 MHz with a bus speed of 100 MHz, all are under-clocked from 620 MHz.

3. It runs the UNIX operating system, the same as Apples mainstream computers.
4. It's "Touch Screen", supports multi-touch finger commands.
5. The Mail application supports POP and IMAP (both with SSL) protocols.
6. FREE applications that support VoIP, such as Skype, Fring and Nimbuzz !

7. Very impressive built in applications that NATIVLEY support:
   
   • Apple, Pages, Numbers and Keynote files, of course...
   • And belive it or not, zip file(s) !!
     - Well sort of, so far it will decompress one I know of.

   • Microsoft Word, Excel and Power (.ppt and .pps) Point files.
   • All common image types such as, PNG, JPG, TIFF and GIF
   • All common sound types such as, WAV, AIFF and of course MP3 - But not AU files, rats...

8. The built in wireless (WiFi) is better then most laptops,
   
   • Supports booting via, DHCP, STATIC and BOOTp.
   • HTTP Proxy support.
     
   • WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption.
   • Built in VPN support for:
     • L2TP (Apple).
     • PPTP (Microsoft).
     • IPSec (Cisco).
   • NOTICE: It does not support PPPoE.
